What is Flickr?
Flickr is an excellent online photo management tool. Flickr is very user-friendly and includes many fun features: you can pick your favorite photos, add comments to interesting photos, map where the photo was taken anywhere in the world, and browse wonderful and memorable photographs from all over the world. Our Flickr group will help more people enjoy the pictures from all the Hoops4Him games and events. You can also display photos from Flickr on your website, blog, discuss photos on Flickr, and get photos printed from the site.
How do I get started?
If you already have an email account with Yahoo!, it is easy to sign up. Just visit www.flickr.com and follow the instructions there. If you do not have a Yahoo! ID, you will be directed to sign up for one at www.flickr.com.
How do I join the Hoops4Him group?
Access our Hoops4Him group here at http://flickr.com/groups/hoops4him or search for "Hoops4Him" under the Groups section. Then click "Join This Group" so that the list administrator can add you to the group.
How do I upload and tag my photo?
Step 1 – Log in to Flickr
If you're not yet a Flickr user, you'll need to first sign up. If you have a Flickr account just sign in, or if you're a Yahoo! user you can now use your Yahoo! ID.
Step 2 – Upload your photos
To upload your photos to Flickr - you can use their website (http://flickr.com/photos/upload), the "Uploadr" software tool (You have to install it from http://flickr.com/tools). or use the interactive "Web 2.0" features built right in to the new web browser, "Flock" (install this from http://www.flock.com).
Step 3 – Tag your photos
Photos must be public (so other people can see them!) and tagged with Hoops4Him.
On Flickr, users can search group photos using "tags." For example, if a member of the group would like to see what Hoops4Him games took place in 2008-2009, the member can search "Hoops4Him" and "2008-2009." This also allows us to easily add the pictures to the Hoops4Him web site. The following tags are required for your photos to be included in our Flickr group:
- Hoops4Him
- Basketball
- 2009-2010
- Name of the Division – i.e. HighSchoolBoys
- Date of game (MM/DD/YY)
Optional tags (to further describe your picture):
- Name of the church(es),
- Name of the player(s)
The easy way to tag is to highlight the following line of text and
paste it as tags for each of the pictures you upload. Be sure to
change the date to the correct date of the picture. Here is what to

Step 4 – Add your photos to our group
Go to the Hoops4Him Group page at http://flickr.com/groups/hoops4him and join the Hoops4Him group. For each of your photos, add it to our group. You can edit them in one large batch using Flickr's Organizr!
